General information about Costa Rica


What is necessary to put in the suitcase :

- Documentation: Passport.
- Clothes: From December to April Light clothes, comfortable footwear and sun glasses. From May to November Light clothes, comfortable footwear, umbrella and rain-cape with hood.
- Medicines: Antihistamine if it has some type of allergy, analgesic like paracetamol or aspirins. Stomachache pills, as well as antiseptic problems.
- Hygiene: Solar Cream and anti mosquitoes protection.

Money and credit cards Colons, international credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Diners Club and travel checks.

Electric appliances batteries, camera and/or videocamera.
Time your visit according to where you whish to visit, as the contry´s climate varies markedly by region. In general, dry season (summer) is November to April, and wet season (winter) or green season is may to October.

The central Highlands enjoy a year-round spinglike climate, with clear skies and warm weather. The wet season means clear mornings and afternoon showers, although prolongued rain is possible. Upper mountain slopes have alpine climates, with persistent fog and high winds.

Guanacaste sizzles during the dry season, when rain is virtually unheard of, and temperatures soar. Trees explode into bloom and stiff northeasterly winds whip the pacific- fun for surfers but putting a damper on fishing.

Time of the recommended year Costa Rica owns a humid tropical climate in the coast and tempering in the central plateau. Two differentiated seasons exist; the wet season, that go from May to November, and the dry station, from December to April. The average temperatures are of 24 degrees Celsius in the low zones, of 16 degrees in the high zones and of 20 degrees in the Central Valley.
